An Elevated Day in Tribeca

January 28, 2026

Tribeca is best enjoyed without an agenda. A little cannabis sets the tone for wandering, noticing the details, and letting the day unfold naturally…no rush, no pressure, just good energy and a great neighborhood.

Here are a few ways to spend the day that always feel like a good idea:

  • Walk the West Side Highway – River views, fresh air, and a reset button for your brain. Bonus points at golden hour.

  • Shop at Brookfield Place – Equal parts retail, people-watching, and “just popping in.”

  • Visit Mercer Labs – Immersive, trippy, and surprisingly perfect for slowing down and taking it all in.

  • Explore the Oculus, One World Trade & Westfield – Architectural eye candy, luxury shopping, and an easy way to lose track of time.

  • Walk or Citi Bike the Brooklyn Bridge – Tourist behavior, yes—but still undefeated.

  • Stroll the Tribeca Side Streets – Cobblestones, cast-iron buildings, and that quiet NYC flex.

  • Grab a Coffee and Linger – Tribeca rewards taking your time. No rush, no rules.

Smoking a joint with your siblings is a sacred teenage tradition, something that bonds you across clouds of smoke—a furtive secret you all keep from your parents. For the five Savocchi siblings, it seemed an innocent enough past time during their childhood in Queens. But it was also prequel to their eventual entry into New York’ adult-use cannabis industry.

The Savocchi family founded Alto with a mission that is as deeply personal as it is ambitious. Drawing on their shared commitment to community and social justice, they envisioned a dispensary that seamlessly combines top-tier cannabis products with an inviting, community-driven atmosphere.

The neighborhood’s first legal cannabis dispensary has opened on Chambers: Alto (I was slow on the uptake but of course it means “high’ in Italian) is among the 190+ dispensaries now open in the state and about the 35th in Manhattan. They opened on August 31 and will host an official grand opening on Oct. 10.
